Peter Schickele: PRESENTS II

Thank You Piece

PROGRAM NOTE: David Robinson, what a nut. He's one of those guys who looks as if he's absolutely normal, but he isn't. At least, certainly not absolutely, anyway. We became good friends as students at Swarthmore; he played piano, invented his own alphabet, studied arcane religious matters on the side and lots of other stuff. He could also, parenthetically, but quite clearly, sing two notes simultaneously. Thank You Piece was written some years later, in exchange for staying over at his and his wife's place in Columbus, Ohio: a bread-and-butter piece. (Peter Schickele)
