The oil spill has devastated the livelihoods of families in the Gulf region. Many are facing extreme hardship. Over 47,500 households depend on the waters and land. It will be a long time before we will know if people can truly safely return to work, and a normal life. A staggering 375,000 meals have already been distributed by Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana
to people affected by this disaster. It has recently seen a 25% increase in those needing food.
