Bagatelle a la Peter Schickele
Bagatelle a la Peter Schickele is an excerpt from the March 29, 2011 75th birthday concert celebration honoring American composer Peter Schickele (and a little P.D.Q. Bach!), which took place at Steinway Hall. The video opens with introductory comments by the composer--who attended the concert and introduced all of the works performed that evening--which was preceded by a warm and festive introduction of Peter Schickele to the audience by renowned WQXR and WFUV Radio Announcer Robert Sherman.
Featured in this video is Peter Schickele's "Dance of Uncertain National Origin" from his Three Uncharacteristic Pieces for B flat Trumpet and Piano performed by trumpeter Caleb Hudson and pianist Laura Leon. Caleb Hudson is a Fellow of Ensemble ACJW and recently performed Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in December 2012. He is a 2012 graduate of Juilliard and studied with trumpeter Raymond Mase--who premiered this trumpet work live with Peter Schickele on the piano, on Robert Sherman's WQXR's "The Listening Room." A special thank you to Eddie Strauss of Steinway & Sons. This video was filmed and produced by Karen Leon, Broken Tail Productions.
